Modelling and Parametric Analysis of a Brine Treatment Unit Using a High‐Temperature Heat Pump and a Vacuum Evaporator

Gkountas A., Bakalis, P., Ntavou, E., Skiadopoulos, A., Manolakos, D. (2022). Modelling and Parametric Analysis of a Brine Treatment Unit Using a High‐Temperature Heat Pump and a Vacuum Evaporator. Applied Sciences 12, 10.3390.

The innovative brine treatment method that was presented in the current work and studied by the AUA and ThermoDraft research teams, is the concept on which BRIZE project was built and further developed during the project to increase the fresh water production.

The vacuum evaporation with the use of a high-temperature heat pump, which is classified as “green technology”, was proposed to process the brine produced from desalination systems, and is applied for the case of Kimolos island in Greece.
